The Urban Magisterium described as a “success” the first protest march that they staged this Tuesday from La Ceja de El Alto to the Ministry of Education, in the San Jorge area of La Paz. Now, educators prepare more pressure measures, one of them is holding protests at two times, afternoon and morning.
“More teachers are joining the mobilizations and what we have defined is that tomorrow we are going to continue mobilizing until the minister summons us and gives us favorable answers to the demands that the Urban Teachers of Bolivia have raised”, declared the executive of the Confederation of Urban Education Workers of Bolivia (Cteub), Ludwig Salazar.
The teachers sent a petition document of approximately 200 points to the Government and the document was being discussed since February, however, No consensus was reached on any of the points. and the La Paz leader, José Luis Álvarez, said that a fruitless dialogue cannot be maintained and that is why the protests began.
Although Salazar said that it would not be possible to report on the mobilization strategy of the teachers, it was known that This Tuesday there will be two marches, one at 09:00 and they will march from the area of La Portada. In the afternoon the concentration will be at the Casa Social del Maestro, two blocks from Plaza Murillo and they will also march through the different streets.
In that way, this Tuesdayagain the center of the seat of government will be collapsed by the massive march of educators. According to José Luis Álvarez, there will be no suspension of school work, “yet” and he explained that teachers who do not have classes must attend the calls.
The Minister of Education, Edgar Pary, ratified his decision to talk with the leadership of the teachers, but did not promise to give in in any of the requests made by their colleagues. However, the Cteub executive assured that no formal invitation from Minister Pary arrived until late at night and recalled that they, as the leadership, left a formal note in which they asked the authorities to dialogue. The response to that letter did not arrive until now.
