Thousands of teachers from all over the country gathered in front of the Ministry of Education to demand a series of demands, including a salary increase for ADP members.
Eduardo Hidalgo, president of the union, demanded that Minister Ángel Hernández comply with the remaining points of the agreement ADP-MINERD agreed last year 2023.
He listed the points in dispute as performance evaluation, improvement of schools, completion of salary adjustments for retirees and pensioners, incentives for counselors, pedagogical coordinators, psychologists and directors of educational centers due to the complexity of their position.
Teachers are also demanding the repair and construction of schools that have yet to be completed in some parts of the country, among other demands.
He said that the call to demonstrate came from the National Executive Committee, in response to a decision by the National Plenary of Leaders that unanimously approved the holding of the rally.
He indicated that the leaders of the 155 sections participated in the concentration, such as: Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristobal, Peravia, Monte Plata, San Pedro Macoris, Monsignor Nouel, Juan Sanchez Ramirez, San Francisco de Macoris, Samana, Maria Trinidad Sanchez and the municipalities of La Vega, Santiago and Hato Mayor.
Likewise, Barahona, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Independence, Elias Pine, Pedernales, San Jose de Ocoa. Also Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Altagracia, La Romana, and the National District.
It is recalled that the ADP has been demanding compliance with the ADP-Minerd agreement agreed on July 24, 2023, without most of the agreed points having been fulfilled, for the defense of public schools.

Hidalgo warned that they do not rule out using other methods of pressure to force the education authorities to comply with what was agreed in 2024.
“This is a fight that has only just begun, so if we are not listened to, we will intensify our efforts to raise awareness among Minister Ángel Hernández and ensure that he complies with the aforementioned agreements,” he said.
Security
The regional director of the National Police District Z-45, General Frank de los Santos, arranged for a security ring of 175 members to safeguard the integrity of both the Ministry of Education and the teachers.
He said he instructed the officers to protect the teachers and not “touch them even with a rose petal” during the day of protest in front of the Minerd.
“A teacher should be seen as our second father, whom we should respect, love and protect, whether right or wrong,” he said.
He said that the institutions of the Director General of the Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, have been clearly and precisely complied with by the agents who are present at the peaceful gathering of the ADP members.
