The urban teacher will hold a mobilized strike this Friday in demand for items for the sector, since the proposal that the Ministry of Education sent them yesterday did not meet their expectations. However, they ensure that they do not close the dialogue table.
This Thursday, in the afternoon, the teachers analyzed the Government’s proposal regarding the items and the leveling of hours, but determined their refusal to confirm the 24-hour strike.
“The strike with blockade of streets and highways is ratified. The federations that are on the borders are going to close the borders. In this framework, we have not been authorized to go to the dialogue today, but rather tomorrow (Friday),” said the executive of the Confederation of Urban Education Workers, Patricio Molina.
For his part, the executive of the La Paz teachers, Leandro Mamani, pointed out that it is possible to flex the demand on the number of items and that they are willing to attend the dialogue table, but that the pressure measures continue.
“The conference has decided to attend the dialogue, we have made observations on the letter sent to us by the Minister of Education, but unanimously it has been decided to carry out the 24-hour strike that was already defined beforehand”, added Mamani.
There is no agreement
The Minister of Education, Edgar Pary, had summoned the teachers to meet yesterday, Thursday, and discuss the demand for the items. The call was for 7:00but they did not attend.
The Ministry of Education sent them the proposal in writing and, after analyzing it, they considered that it did not meet their demands. Teachers point out that the deficit hours reach more than 200,000 and the Ministry of Education only offers about 12,500.
The sector has been mobilized since last week and is concentrating its protests in the city of La Paz.
