The country’s urban teachers asked the government to designate an interlocutor because they consider that the Minister of Education, Édgar Pary, did not meet their demands despite the innumerable meetings. They sent a letter to request an audience with President Luis Arce.
“We have asked another interlocutor so that they have the capacity to resolve the conflict and have decision-making capacity. We have asked to meet with the president,” reported the departmental leader of La Paz, José Luis Álvarez.
The professor clarified that as a teacher did not sign any agreement with leaders of the multisectoral alliance because he considers that “they want to take advantage of our conflict”, that is why they marched at different times. Of course, he said that they claim the requests as the rejection of any attempt to penalize social protest and the problem of free expression.
Thursday, teachers will meet to discuss the transfer of pensions to the Manager and on Friday they will carry out a torchlight march to later focus on a new enlargement where they will define the radicalization of their protest measures.
Since the end of February The teachers promote measures of pressure against the Government in search of attention to their 200-point list, among which five are prioritized as item creation, change the contents of the curriculum and more budget. So far they have not received responses from the Ministry of Education.
The leadership of the educators and the authorities met on several occasions and No agreement could be reached advance notice or memorandum of understanding.
plagiarism investigation
In the midst of the protests, threats of confrontation with the Police and lack of dialogue, The Ministry of Education is in a controversy over the alleged plagiarism on the covers of texts of support with similar images of Japanese anime ‘Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso’, based on Naoshi Arakawa’s manga and then another with the anime ‘Orange’.
Minister Édgar Pary admitted the irregularities and pointed out that with the internal processes and with the application of sanctions to those responsible, they will seek to set a precedent so that this type of event does not happen again in future publications disseminated by the Ministry of Education.
Plagiarism would only be in some texts and, despite this, the content of the educational text of the initial and secondary level will not change.
The president of the neighborhood councils of Santa Cruz, Fheran Quintanilla, sees plagiarism of images as a serious offense that he considered the education of children and young people in the country as “a mockery”.
“With this scandal that is circulating on social networks, parents are generating more mistrust and we have pointed out to the Ministry of Education that the harshest sanction should be imposed on people who plagiarized for making fun of education,” he said with annoyance the Santa Cruz leader.
