The transfer of teachers to areas of difficult access continues by personnel from the Ministry of Education (Meduca). Some 48 educators have been mobilized by land to the Nicanor community airstrip, from where they will board aircraft of the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) to be transported by air to Puerto Obaldía, in the Guna Yala region, and Puerto Piña, in the Darien province.
Similarly, another group of 48 teachers were transferred by road to the town of Cartí, to be taken by sea to different communities in the Guna Yala region.
Aibán Olivardía, Regional Director of Education of the Guna Yala region, said that “today Saturday we continue with the transfer of teachers and I am grateful for the management that the Ministry of Education has done, this is a very good indication and I see the educators very encouraged It is a commitment and responsibility that, as teachers, has been entrusted to us and we know that in our region the teachers are prepared”.
The director of the Octavio Ceballos school in Puerto Obaldía, Ramón Adames Franco, said that “I have high expectations and I am excited. We will take advantage of the training that we are going to put into practice to improve the knowledge of the students, this year we have robotics and, in our educational center, an interactive classroom, which was donated by the Terpel Panama Foundation, so they will receive quality education”.
“This year 2023 we are going with all the strength and enthusiasm to provide quality education at the Puerto Piña school, implement everything we learned in the different seminars that Meduca gave us, so that our students in this far away place have the same opportunities as students from the city,” said Elizabeth González, an educator at the Puerto Piña school.
This Monday, February 27, the organization week begins for the more than 48,000 teachers that make up the educational system and the following Monday, March 6, the 2023 school year begins, for more than 830,000 students from the official sector and more than 124 thousand in private.
