While teachers prepare their expanded to define new pressure measurements Against the Government, the Executive affirms that in the first week of classes the plan for the implementation of the new curricular mesh in the Magisterium has already been consolidated. This Monday, the teachers will hold a national meeting in La Paz where they will analyze their strategies.

“We are not opposed to the incorporation of new subjects, but we do ask for the budget, the workload, that the classes be taught by specialized teachers and that we incorporate more educational budget, and after the expansion we are going to radicalize the measures of pressure next week”, said this Sunday the executive of the La Paz teachers, José Luis Álvarez.

The Government launched its plan to implement a new curricular mesh, which it called “updating”, and provided that they be the teachers of some subjects who could teach the classes of this new program. The same teachers observed the way in which the program is intended to be imposed.

Educators set an example. As detailed, a literature teacher must dictate an original language; the teacher was not trained and did not study the language. It would not be possible to teach that class; but in the training courses, the technicians from the Ministry of Education told him that since it was a gradual program, this year could start “with a couple of words”, which provoked the protest of the teacher who said that this type of teaching was to deceive the student and that she was not willing to do it.

That was just one example that educators gave of how the Government tries to capture its new mesh. Rejection arises from that kind of “training courses”. If they are not heard, they will resume pressure actions.

The vice-minister of Regular Education, Bartolomé Puma, minimized the teachers’ protest held last Wednesday. No.Or did it have the effect they expected? mentioned. WasThere were a little more than 2,000 teachers who protested throughout the country, he said on the state channel.

At the national level, it is estimated that there are 150,000 educators, therefore, in his opinion, the protest is insignificant. He defended the government’s position and assured that consolidated planning will move forward.

Despite this qualifier against the teachers, Puma called to start a negotiating table and the teachers remembered that it is no longer just the curriculum, but that the Magisterium has a list of demands that was never addressed by the Government.
