Te Deum Evangélico focused on the increase in violence in the streets and a call to “encounter”

We are dealing with all the violence that is in our society and we must continue to do so, ”said Camila Vallejo, minister of the General Secretariat of Government (Segegob) upon leaving the Evangelical Cathedral of Puente Alto where he celebrated the Evangelical Te Deum.

This morning, President Gabriel Boric arrived in Puente Alto to attend the Evangelical Te Deum – which began at 11 o’clock – together with his ministers. It was a thanksgiving ceremony and where the evangelical bishops addressed the authorities, highlighting the high level of violence in the streets and the need for a meeting.

President Boric and his partner and social scientist, Irina Karamanos, were in the front row. Behind them sat the ministers. And throughout the ceremony, in the front row and on stage, he was the Lutheran chaplain of La Moneda, Izani Bruch.

“We pray for harmony and tranquility in our nation, due to the conflicts and evils that exist, such as the violence that has been occurring with increasing force,” Bishop Emiliano Soto, High Representative of the Evangelical and Protestant churches, asked.

“There is a security issue, there are issues around social justice, to end the different types of violence, economic violence, politics, we are addressing all the violence that is in our society and we must continue to do so. And obviously together with those who believe in the different churches that do an important job beyond what the State does, it is recognized and valued, because it is the task of everyone, and of course also of this Government “, assured after the ceremony.

“Sir, we know that crime is overtaking the authorities at this time. We pray for a strict control of drugs and other evils that have their origin in the hearts of men,” Bishop Soto added.

“We pray for President Gabriel Boric, so that you, Lord, give him strength in the midst of any circumstance, that no matter how difficult it may be, you give him the necessary wisdom and intelligence, in every way and especially so that you place in him the necessary justice to take the better decisions for the good of all Chileans so that we can live in peace and quiet in the country,” he said.

“Give intelligence and wisdom to our authorities so that they make the best decisions that allow them to eradicate violence,” asked Bishop Jorge Méndez.

The president of the Methodist Pentecostal Church of Chile, Bishop Edmundo Zenteno Céspedes, was in charge of giving the message on behalf of the evangelical people. In this sense, he called on Chileans to dialogue among themselves to seek solutions for Chile. “The country demands solutions. And the solutions are not just on one side, they are everywhere. We have to change this spirit, this way of feeling adversarial,” he said.
