The eleventh studio album by Taylor Swift, The Tortured Poets Department has made history on Spotify by becoming the most played album in a single day on the platform, according to reports from the streaming platform Spotify.
In the first 24 hours after its release, the album accumulated more than 300 million streaming, surpassing the previous record set by Swift herself in October 2022 with the 1989 re-recording.
The American artist not only holds the record for the most streamed album in one day, but also has the three most successful debuts on the platform: The Tortured Poets Department, Midnights (2022) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (2021), detailed the platform.
The success of the album is not limited to the total numbers. The lead single, Fortnightin collaboration with Post Malone, also broke the record for the most streamed song in one day on Spotify, dethroning Easy on Me by Adele, released in 2021, Spotify reported.
The Tortured Poets Department, which originally had 16 songs, expanded to 31 tracks with the release of a surprise second installment by Swift. Among the new songs are The Manuscript, The Bolter, The Albatross and The Black Dogavailable only on vinyl editions of the album, Swift announced via Instagram.
