The minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Paulo Pimenta, said this Monday (18) that the introduction of taxation of the super rich in the final declaration of the G20 leaders, it will be a great victory for Brazil. According to him, the country worked on this topic throughout the year.
“We are very hopeful that we will be able, for the first time, to have as a result of a G20 summit a resolution that points to the need for what we call taxation of the super-rich,” said Pimenta, in an interview with Gov Channelfrom the Brazilian Communication Company (EBC).
The minister stated that Brazil has already managed to leave a legacy in its management at the head of the G20: Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, launched today, at the opening of the group’s summit.
“One of the criticisms that often occurs in these international forums is the lack of concrete results. The creation of the Alliance is already a result. It already has an agenda, financing and objectives. Evidently, this is a very important mark of hope and of Brazil’s legacy in the G20”, he stated.
