Tax waiver in case "Rust" after objection from Baldwin lawyers

The special prosecutor appointed to the trial for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of the movie “rust” decided to resign from the case on Tuesday (14.03.2023).

The special prosecutor Andrea Reeb announced his resignation in a statement in which he explained that he made the decision after “much reflection” and to “ensure that justice is done in the best way,” according to local media.

The lawyers of the actor alec baldwinwho is being charged along with the film’s gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, with involuntary manslaughter, filed a petition in February with the judge to recuse the special prosecutor appointed to the case.

The defense argued that Reeb was not fit to take on this case because she is a legislator in the New Mexico House of Representatives.

Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed fThey were indicted on January 31 of this year for the tragedy that cost the cinematographer her life during the filming of this film and could face a maximum sentence of 18 months in jail.
