The tax reform conciliation committee reached an agreement and agreed on the definitive text of the project, which must go through one last approval in the Congress of the Republic (House and Senate). This would take place, if nothing extraordinary happens, next Tuesday, November 15.

Clara López and Juan Diego Echavarría, on the side of the senators, and Álvaro Monedero and Jorge Bastidas, on the side of the representatives, were the congressmen chosen for the committee.
They had three meetings throughout this week to discuss the different points of both texts and prepare a single final document.
“There were differences in several articles, but the changes were not really substantial”, assured representative Jorge Bastidas, who explained that they began the review once they had the official versions of the texts uploaded in the Congressional Gazette.

Among the most controversial issues they had to decide on, and which ultimately fell through, were church tax Y the differential rental rate for small and medium-sized companies.
Both points were approved in the Chamber, but the Senate had turned its back on them.
(See: Falabella says that it will have to adjust its costs with the new tax).
The tax on churches sought a 20% tax on the income of these places when they carry out activities not related to their corporate purpose, that is, when they present income from commercial issues unrelated to religious worship, such as selling books.

Now, the issue will be discussed at a technical table that will be formed by the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (Dian), the churches and confessions.
As for the subject of mypimes and pymes, the idea was a differential rental rate for them with a 30% tax instead of 35%.

It is worth remembering that the tax office will seek to collect 20 billion pesos by 2023.
