The Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (Dian) presented its tax collection bulletin for May, in which the entity reported that in the first five months of the year gross collection reached $95.42 billion, which implies a fulfillment of 114.9% of the goal that was planned for that period.
(Tax collection was 53.7 billion in the first quarter of 2022).
Compared to the same period in 2021, in which $71.58 billion was collected, there was a 33.3% growth in tax collection.
So far this year, 33% of the tax balance was achieved through the withholding tax for income, with an amount of $31.4 billion, while $21.9 billion (23% of the total) was collected from sales tax and $17.7 billion from customs.
(Gross tax collection in 2021 was 173.6 billion pesos).
In the case of the month of May, the tax collection was $20.9 billion, which represented an increase of 28.8% compared to the tax collection of the same month of 2021, when the Dian received $16.21 billion.
The gross collection in May was distributed as follows: $7.3 billion for VAT (35%), $6.2 billion for income withholding (30%), and $3.5 billion for customs (17%).
