Tatiana Clouthier trusts benefits of the electrical reform

The electrical reform initiative has generated opinions against part of Mexican businessmen, who say that this measure will bring uncertainty to the electrical sector.

The reform initiative, Clouthier pointed out, “was a kick. There is a very clear need for the president (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) to say how we give this control, in some way, to the CFE and, on the other hand, how to work on the portability issue.”

Regarding uncertainty, the federal official pointed out that businessmen are used to uncertainty.

“I am the daughter of a man who was an entrepreneur and I saw him take risks every day. So for me, playing on the edge of the line every day and taking risks and being uncertain is a very familiar thing. I’m surprised they get nervous, ”she pointed out.

“There is no one more risky than the business community. Every day the businessman plays with variables that are not controllable, so to speak, ”he added.

Clouthier pointed out that President López Obrador assured the Secretary of Energy of the United States, Jennifer Granholm, that his government is not going to do anything that does not allow the relationship between the two nations to not continue to strengthen.

The official stressed that she sees more interest in investing in Mexico from foreigners than from Mexicans themselves, because “the local is seeing the problem, or the issues are seen with an amplified television and the noise becomes different.”

Support for SMEs

In addition to the support that has been provided to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in terms of digitization, innovation and to reach specific markets and be able to supply larger companies, the Ministry of Economy has also made some requests to the Ministry of Finance and with local authorities to offer other types of support.

He specified that, together with some states of the country and the development banks, they have worked on “weight by weight” support during the two years that the pandemic has already been going on.

Although he regretted that traditional banking has not focused on this niche and asked for “a little more risk from commercial banking.”

Although he made it clear that he is not on his field, he has talked with the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, and has put the issue of incentives for companies on the table.

“What we have to do is introduce the president, the legislators and at times with the SAT and say: these are the things we are seeing and, well, the determinations end up being made by them. We talk about what businessmen normally share with us and we tell them: they need a little push”, explained Secretary Clouthier.

The work of the Ministry of Economy has consisted, among other things, in preparing the electronic business file and in the digitization of procedures.

“The most important challenge is in this part where there is still no trust between the tax issue and the taxpayer. This is where they put more obstacles on us and it becomes more complicated, ”he lamented.
