In the Santiago de Coto annex in the Paccha Racra ravine sector belonging to the Muruhuay town in the Acobamba district, a forest fire broke out for several hours. While firefighters were putting out the fire, a wild flame that was escaping appeared.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 in the morning and was allegedly started by unscrupulous individuals. The fire reached the heights of Muruhuay. Fire Company No. 58, personnel from the Acobamba Serenazgo, police from the Acobamba Police Station under the command of Lieutenant PNP Marco Antonio Quispe, and the San Miguel de Acobamba Peasant Community with Omar Camayo Salazar and all the residents of the towns adjacent to the center of the fire joined in to control it.

This would not be the first time that a fire of such magnitude has occurred. Last year, a similar fire occurred that almost reached the same place as the chapel. The flora and fauna of the area are affected and, unfortunately, the authorities are not taking responsibility or preventive measures.
