The bridge that is being installed over the Satipo River and that would link the town of Tzancuvatziari with the province, collapsed, splitting in two. Former councilor Alex Veli informed this correspondent that the bridge is being built with a million-dollar budget.

As a result of this accident, the worker César Achata Espinoza was trapped between the twisted ironwork of the structure in the middle of the river, being rescued with just a little effort by his co-workers and transferred to the Manuel Higa Arakaki hospital.

The Provincial Municipality of Satipo invests a total of 2 million 399 thousand soles in the construction of the Yanango bridge, which is 107 meters long and has a capacity of 30 tons. It is raised to promote the fluidity of communications for nearly 400 families.

The project fell into three stages, the first is 100% complete, with the construction of two abutments and an anchorage chamber and the emptying of two footings on both banks of the river.

The second stage was carried out with the disassembly and transfer of the bridge to the province of Satipo. And the last stage includes the installation and placement of the bridge.

In this regard, former councilor Alex Veli said that “the work was carried out by direct administration, producing temporary jobs directly and indirectly,” he remarked.

The company in charge of the work is Asphal Technologies, subcontracted by the municipality. The mayor of Satipo César Merea said that it was due to structural failures, due to the entry of a heavy truck and that the case is under investigation.
