Tarijeño mayor highlights the will of the Government to build a wastewater plant

The mayor of the city of Tarija, Johnny Torres, highlighted the political will of the Minister of the Environment and Water, Juan Santos Cruz, to make the construction of a sewage treatment.

The building authority reacted after the minister Santos Cruz ratified the commitment to seek financing for the execution of the project.

“It is gratifying to hear from the minister that there is a will to complete the construction of the wastewater treatment plant for the capital of Tarija. We also have the will to continue working to achieve a definitive solution to the problem of wastewater with the national government,” declared Torres.

Likewise, the mayor admitted that since the beginning of his administration, the project has been prioritized with meetings and notes addressed to the national authorities in an attempt to access financing due to the fact that his economic cost is high and it cannot be 100% covered by the Municipal Government of the city of Tarija.

The Minister of Environment and Water, Juan Santos Cruz, in a press conference last Friday, asked the Municipal Government to worry about solve the social part of the location of the project to advance in the search for financing.

For years, efforts have been made to make the plant a reality to curb the contamination of the Guadalquivi riverr for sewage from neighboring neighborhoods.
