This Wednesday began the protocol acts for the anniversary of the libertarian deed of Tarija. Several educational units and authorities made their way through the main avenues of the capital of the southern department of the country.

President Luis Arce did not participate in the honorary session of the Departmental Legislative Assembly due to coordination problems.

In the acts prior to the anniversary of Tarija, which is celebrated every April 15, the mayor of the municipality of Cercado, Óscar Montes, recalled the 205 years of the battle of Tablada and highlighted the role of the people of Tarija when defending the country in various armed conflicts.

“The battle of La Tablada, 205 years ago, when Tarija was fighting for its freedom with a clean sword, defeating an empire that had subjugated us for many decades. Today the situation is different, but Tarija has played a preponderant role in Bolivian history, not only in the emancipatory struggles at the beginning of the 19th century, but later, when Bolivia’s maritime border was usurped, it was the people of Tarija who from here were to fight on the shores of the Pacific and it was the Tarijeños who won the only battle that Bolivia won”, recalled Montes.

On the other hand, he highlighted that characters born in that region came to lead the State, such as former President Jaime Paz Zamora and the late Víctor Paz Estenssoro and Aniceto Arce.

“Today we still have challenges. There is nothing that cannot be overcome at this time other than through knowledge and that is the best tribute we have to pay to our heroes, commit ourselves to continue their legacy and follow the mark they have left us, “he concluded.

Arce does not participate in the Honor Session of the ALD

On the other hand, it was learned that President Luis Arce was not in the Honorary Session of the Departmental Legislative Assembly of Tarija nor will he participate in the session of the Municipal Council due to “lack of coordination” between the central and municipal governments.

“I am very sorry and the National Government regrets that it is not possible to have a formal coordination link so that a president can get here. Understand that the brother president has a planned agenda not only at the local level, but at the national level, “reported the government coordinator in Tarija, Marcelo Poma, according to the morning newspaper El País, from that department.

The authority said that the president has an agenda in rural areas of the department.

In the preceding days, Arce visited various areas of the capital and rural municipalities to deliver works.

In this context, he had slipped coordination problems after stating that “complaints are for the incapable, who try to find a pretext to say that works cannot be done.”

“If there are no subnational government authorities who do not want to coordinate, that will not make us run, we will continue to come as many times as necessary to deliver works here in Tarija,” Arce said on Tuesday.
