In the city of Tarija, the carnival is already breathed with the expectation of the Thursday of compadres characterized by the traditional delivery or return of the cake basket (sweet bread) adorned with the fruits (peach grape and fig) of the time.
This activity is part of the Chapaco 2025 Carnival that started days ago with the announcement and choice of queens of the urban and rural area.
To this will be added the entrance of compadres that is organized for the first time, compared to past years. “We are waiting for compadres on Thursday to spend Churo, since they will allow us to meet people to make new friendships,” said Santos Chocala who plays the Erque (wind instrument).
The municipal director of Tourism and Culture, Rolando Vacaflor, said that initially the entrance of compadres will be carried out that will depart from the San Roque church to the Luis de Fuentes square to the rhythm of the erque and the box.
According to Vacaflor, the participation of at least 700 compadres is estimated. “It will be a beautiful activity of the compadres, if the comadres have their entry why the compadres cannot,” said Vacaflor, in reference to the new activity organized by the Mayor’s Office of Tarija.
After this activity they are concentrated in the field of compadres, where it must end up to 4 pm, as in other public spaces in the capital of Tarijeña.
