Tariff: New markets and public policies have softened effects

Brazil’s partnerships with new consumer markets helped the country significantly alleviate the impacts of US tariffs on the country. “We sought the reconnection of Brazil. We opened 437 new markets in these two years and nine months. An absolute record. We have never had so many options,” said the minister to point out that government efforts continue to see the situation with the US.

Smaller impact

This is the case of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union which, according to the minister, is “on the verge of creating the largest economic bloc in the world.”

Fávaro cited, also among the measures that help Brazil diversify their markets, the intensification of relations with the other countries that make up BRICS; and the strengthening of relations with the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Always Open Dialogue

The minister recalled that the government’s strategy, always open to dialogue, is true for both the external and the internal environment, in which he repeatedly hears entrepreneurs and civil society, in the search for more efficient public measures and policies.

Fávaro explains that companies very dependent on the US market already receive “different and special treatment” from the government.

“We are attentive to ensure the survival of companies and jobs as well,” he said.
