Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Tuesday that Brazil will offer the best economic arguments to the United States in negotiations to reverse the tariff to Brazilian products exported to that country. The main one, according to Haddad, is that the measure is more expensive the lives of the US people.
“The role of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Development [Indústria, Comércio e Serviços – MDIC] It is precisely to offer the best economic arguments to show, even, that the people of the United States are suffering from the tariff. They have the most expensive breakfast, they are paying the most expensive coffee, they are paying the most expensive meat, they will stop having access to high quality Brazilian products in the field, too, from the industry, ”said Haddad, when participating in the program Good morning Ministerproduced by Communication Brazil Company.
Among the products charged by the United States are coffee, fruits and meat.
“They are noticing two months here that the measures have been more harmed than the United States favored,” said the minister, remembering that the United States has commercial surplus in relation to Brazil and many investment opportunities, especially aimed at ecological transformation, rare land, critical minerals, clean energy, wind and solar.

For Haddad, the action of Brazilian far right groups is misinforming the US government from what happens in the country.
“It is becoming increasingly clear to the United States government, as it is clear to the whole world, that nothing is happening in Brazil that does not follow the democratic rules of the rule of law.”
Tariff
The tariff imposed on Brazil is part of the new White House policy, inaugurated by President Donald Trump, to raise tariffs against business partners in an attempt to reverse the relative loss of competitiveness from the US economy to China in recent decades.
