The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, assured that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) “has acted openly against Venezuela,” specifically since Commander Hugo Chávez came to power in 1998.
“We observe how the attack has been focused, I would say incessantly, consecutively against Venezuela (…) the CIA has acted openly against Venezuela, against the Bolivarian Revolution, the duly well-constituted authorities,” said Saab from Los Palos Grandes during a day of the Public Ministry goes to your Community.
Saab responded to what was stated by the Government of Donald Trump, where he indicated that he authorized the CIA to operate in Venezuela, which is why he maintained that the people will not surrender and will defend their sovereignty.
“I could describe as bizarre, something like outlandish, a statement by the United States authorities, in which – this had not been seen in decades – they affirm that they have authorized, that is, they have literally legalized the attempt to reissue the CIA’s actions, of a murderous, criminal, genocidal nature that has occurred in Latin America,” stated the Attorney General.
CIA actions in Venezuela
Saab recalled that the coup d’état in 2002 against Commander Chávez was promoted by the CIA, as well as the so-called guarimbas, which only served to burn public spaces and murder innocent people at the hands of the extreme right.
Likewise, he attributed to this US intelligence agency the assassination attempt against President Nicolás Maduro, Operation Gedeón and the violent demonstrations on July 29, 2024, after the electoral victory of the head of state.
The MP Goes to your Community
As part of the program the Public Ministry Goes to Your Community, Saab pointed out “75 officials have been deployed in this Plaza Miranda (…) to provide legal advice to our compatriots. “We expect to receive, at the end of the day, 150 people, of which 20 are already disappointed with their files, because what they have reported is legal.”
The Attorney General highlighted that thanks to the three street days promoted by the MP, more than 106,000 people have been served, of which 10,000 are legal.
