Tarek William Saab presented his credentials before the National Assembly to serve a second 7-year term as Attorney General of Venezuela
The Nominations Committee of the Citizen Power, appointed by the 2020 National Assembly, confirmed this Thursday, October 24, that Tarek William Saab, current Attorney General of the Republic, has been nominated to run for re-election in office.
This was reported by Giuseppe Alessandrello, president of the Committee of applications of the Citizen Powerwho clarified that there is no legal impediment for Saab to run again.

Saab, who has served as Attorney General since 2017, will seek to remain in office through this process that officially began on October 11, with the installation of the Nominations Committee in charge of the renewal of Citizen Power.
In addition to the position of Attorney General, the appointments of the Comptroller General and the Ombudsman will be renewed. According to Alessandrello, the Ombudsman also presented the requirements for re-election, but the comptroller in charge has not yet presented his nomination.
According to the constitution, for the position of Attorney General, candidates must be Venezuelans by birth, have a minimum career of 15 years as lawyers or judges, enjoy a good reputation and not have family ties with senior State officials.
For the position of Ombudsman, a track record in the defense of human rights is also required.
Regarding the Comptroller General’s Office, applicants must have at least 15 years of experience in public administration, a career recognized for its honesty and have held public office for more than five years.
