Taking of tribune and blankets frame debate on reform of the IECM in CDMX Congress

In response, the morenista Temístocles Villanueva, president of said commission, ignored the document since in order for the request to be valid, it must bear his signature.

During the debate on the legislative procedure, deputies from the PAN, PRI, PRD and Movimiento Ciudadano took the podium and were joined by members of the Morena, PT and Verde caucuses to protect the board of directors.

The president of the congress, Héctor Díaz Polanco, decided to invalidate the request to withdraw the opinion and gave rise to its discussion.

At that time, the protests by opposition deputies intensified and even the PRD members Víctor Hugo Lobo and Jorge Gaviño tried to turn off the sound apparatus of the congress when the opinion by Temístocles Villanueva was presented. To avoid it, the petista Circe Camacho was placed in front of the audio controls.

At the same time, shouts were heard in the plenary session such as: “it will not happen” and “resistance” by opposition deputies, as well as “austerity” and “out (Mauricio) Toledo” by the morenistas, in addition to calls from other legislators to avoid violence.

Opposition deputies also displayed banners with the legends such as: “I defend democracy”, “Morena, executioners of democracy” and “the PRI created you and the PRI defends you IECM”. In response, Morena took out cards with the phrase: “the PAN circus.”

Faced with the disorder that prevailed in the legislative chamber, the PAN parliamentary group decided to bring out its own horn and megaphones to continue with its positions against the ruling while the opposing party argued loudly that the reform of the IECM was to eliminate the partisan quotas of previous governments.
