The brigade for taking blood samples and personal data from relatives of disappeared persons, convened by the Ministry of the Interior, the National Search Commission (CNB), among others, has had a good response from the population, said the head of the CNB , Karla Quintana, who indicated that people from various states of the country have attended, including Tamaulipas, Guanajuato and Hidalgo, as well as from Mexico City.
He explained that, once the National Center for Human Identification was created -recently approved by the Congress of the Union-, these brigades will be in other entities and a next step will be to work with the prosecutor’s offices that have information on the unidentified bodies to cross it with the collected data.
In an interview, at the headquarters of the National Population Registry, where the reference samples are taken, he stressed that currently information of this type collected by prosecutors is not usually shared between internal institutions in the same states or between entities, for what one of the characteristics of the National Center will be that it will share the collected data. If we insist on sectioning off, on individualizing, then it will be difficult for us to give a comprehensive response
he mentioned.
Likewise, he stressed that another element that characterizes this brigade is trying to obtain samples from several members of a family, because the more relatives you have in the same group, the more likely you are to identify
since many of the bodies are genetically degraded.
Quintana specified that after the samples are analyzed by the Regional Center for Human Identification, located in Saltillo, Coahuila, in a few months We are going to communicate with the relatives to give them their result
so you can share it with other institutions.
He recalled that for the taking of reference samples – which began on Monday and ends today – it is not required to have filed a complaint and it is free of charge.
