Every new year is the same concern, after knowing the increase in the minimum wage, increases in products and services begin to appear.
Some blame the inflationothers to the government, many go to complain on social networks.
The truth is that after each January 1, the rates appear with a rise in prices in the country for gasoline, food, textiles, merchandise, among others.
The year 2023 starts with an inflation figure of 12.53%.
Salary rises, cost of living rises
Some of the increases in prices in Colombia are directly related to the increase in the minimum wage, which by 2023 was 16%.
For example, there is an increase in the Mechanical Technician for vehicles; public service, private, private use.
There are $160,000 that are added to the salary earned by just over 3 million people in Colombia who have contracts directly with companies and businesses.

However, with the increase in the minimum wage, other prices rise:
- Social security and health.
- The EPS copayment; that is, the moderating fee that people pay when requesting a medical appointment.

- The value of the tolls charged by Invías.
- Mass public transport fares.
For its part, the National Government proposes a maximum increase of 13% in price increases for:
- Public services.
- The leases.
- The food.
- The electric energy.
- Public transport.
Fixed and mobile telephony, Internet and Television will also increase by 9.8%.
Other increases:
- The price of gasoline that closed the year with $400 more pesos.
- Consumer loans increase the “usury rate” by 66%.
- Traffic fines.
- The cost of the passport is $181.00 pesos.
- The value of the ticket in the MIO is $2,700.
- And if you have assets greater than 3,000 million pesos, you must pay wealth tax.
What does not go up
- Beef.
- Pork meat.
- The milk.
