Tainara Souza Santos died on Wednesday night (24), aged 31, leaving two children. She was attacked, run over and dragged by her ex-partner Douglas Alves da Silva, on November 29th.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, the author had already been arrested by the Court on the 6th, when he was captured by the Civil Police.
“With the death of the victim, the nature of the crime has already been updated to completed femicide. The case continues to be investigated by the 73rd Police Station, informs the department.
The crime repeated most of the situations: Tainara didn’t want to continue the relationship, but he didn’t accept it, he chased her and killed her. In the country, there are around 1,500 cases per year, more than four per day. The barbarity of the author, who dragged her along Marginal Tietê, one of the busiest roads in the capital of São Paulo, shocked Brazil.
Combating feminicide will be a priority
In a speech to the nation on national radio and television last night, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva cited the fight against feminicide as one of the priorities for 2026 and a commitment from everyone, but especially men, to contain the aggressors.
