The Minister of Defense of the Nation, Jorge Taiana, headed in Santa Fe the tribute to the historic combat of San Lorenzo, which marked the 210th anniversary, where he highlighted that “The way to respond to the challenges that arise is from the defense of the wealth, sovereignty and freedom of the Homeland”as taught by General José de San Martín.
Taiana participated on Saturday afternoon in the central act for the 210th anniversary of the emblematic victory of San Martín in the Combate de San Lorenzo, held in the so-called Campo de la Gloria, together with the governor of Santa Fe, Omar Perotti and the mayor from the town of San Lorenzo, Leonardo Raimundo.
defense minister thanked the “massive presence of the people of San Lorenzo”to pay homage to General San Martín and his grenadiers, and to the Malvinas heroes present at the event who “gave their lives and fought for the Homeland, the land, the integrity of our soil and for the defense of sovereignty.”
“San Martín left us many lessons as a military tactician, as a strategist, as a man of honor and father of the Nation that we must follow and respect,” he emphasized.
“We must give more to the Homeland than we ask for and be willing to sacrifice ourselves for the common good, justice, sovereignty and the well-being and freedom of all Argentines”Jorge Taiana
In this line, he pointed out: “We must give more to the Homeland than we ask for and be willing to sacrifice ourselves for the common good, justice, sovereignty and well-being and freedom of all Argentines.”
In turn, he pointed out that just as San Martín used the cavalry to defend this land “because it was the instrument at his disposal, it was the way to use what was ours in the best way” and he teaches us today that “The way to respond to the challenges is thinking about it from our interests, from the perspective of all Argentines and the defense of the wealth, sovereignty and freedom of the Homeland”.
“Another teaching of San Martín has to do with the river, the same one through which the Spaniards came and through which wealth flows, but that river is the source of our life and we have to maintain sovereignty and defend our resources over him,” he said.
In this sense, he held that “It is one thing to be open to commercial exchange and another thing is that our resources and their defense are not in our hands.”
