The Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana and his Health counterpart, Carla Vizzotti, signed on Monday afternoon a Agreement for the transfer and delivery of medical equipment and supplies for the thirteen Antarctic basespermanent and temporary, of our country.
The cooperation agreement between the Ministries of Health and Defense was signed at the facilities of the Joint Antarctic Command, at Av. Paseo Colón 1407 in this capital, to address the health needs of the Argentine Antarctic bases.
“This is the continuity of a federal work, of solidarity, empathy and vocation of service”said Minister Vizzotti at the beginning of her presentation.
“The Ministry reached that far, to continue working together, to cover needs, strengthening and providing a health response to the Antarctic bases.”
“This initiative also allows the infirmaries of each base to be enabled, in accordance with current national regulations, reaffirming our commitment to quality,” the Minister of Health later told Télam.
For his part, Minister Taiana expressed “The pride that this agreement means, a transcendent step, a remarkable fact that adds to the valuable collaboration of the Forces in times of pandemic.”
“There is a lot of work behind it, this allows us to improve the health reality to make life easier for them and consolidate our presence in Antarctica,” he continued. “It is a profitable impulse for cooperation between both ministries, supporting the defense of our sovereignty,” the Defense Minister expanded to Télam.
In turn, Commander Edgar Calandìn, who welcomed the ministers on behalf of the command under his charge, highlighted “the enormous geopolitical importance that both portfolios subscribed to.”
Agreement
From the signing, delivery of general and trauma surgical supplies and equipment; personal protective equipment, gloves, masks, goggles and chinstraps and elements for assembling care units for Antarctic bases.
Likewise, humidifiers, pulse oximeters, digital thermometers, stethoscopes, defibrillatorscrash carts, respirators, electrocardiographs, infusion pumps, respirators, mobile X-ray equipment, and dental equipment, among others.
On the other hand, the agreement contemplates the collaboration in research projects and the promotion of public production of medicines based on joint work between the Joint Antarctic Command and institutions such as Malbrán and the National Agency of Public Laboratories (ANLAP)as well as the exchange and promotion of joint health activities of common interest in the Antarctic bases.
It includes, in turn, training instances that will be carried out annually with all the health personnel of the Command, in order to increase health care services and provide greater security.
