Tacna: Soccer and volleyball championship will bring together 700 motorcycle taxi drivers from the southern cone

In order to strengthen the district’s security through the formalization of motorcycle taxis, the Sub-directorate of Transport and Road Safety of the municipality of Gregorio Albarracín will hold the 2nd edition of the 2024 motorcycle taxi sports championship.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Joel Gutiérrez stadium, the grand opening of this sporting event will take place, which will bring together 37 teams from motorcycle taxi associations, including the well-known Santa Rosa, Aló Torito, Bajajar, Jóvenes Unidos, 1ro de Mayo, among others.

Disciplines in dispute

The teams will compete for large cash prizes, medals and the coveted cup in the disciplines of open-air football, master’s soccer, mixed volleyball and, for the first time, women’s soccer, for drivers of minor units.

The Deputy Director of Transport, Luis Durand, reported that after the announcement of the championship, more drivers opted to become drivers. This means an improvement in the safety of passengers and users of this service.

At the Gutierrez stadium

All matches will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Joel Gutiérrez stadium from today until the second half of October, when the championship closing ceremony and awards ceremony will take place.
