More than a hundred parents today staged a “sit-in” requesting the Regional Government and Ugel Tacna to hire more teachers for the Calderón de La Barca educational institution.

They explained that they live in the surrounding associations and that they had been waiting for a long time for the campus infrastructure to be completed so that the vacancies for their children would increase.
They only serve with one section
To date, enrollment has only been received for one section per grade of primary and secondary, as in previous years, despite the fact that in December the Regional Government completed the construction of five classrooms for each grade of primary and secondary.
The resident Candy Mamani stated that the previous management promised them that 2,500 vacancies would be enabled, however they did not implement previous actions and neither did the new authorities despite there was also a commitment in January.
It has classrooms but no teachers
“There are classrooms already built that have been inaugurated in December and there are teachers willing to work, what is needed is a budget, that is why we ask the Regional Government and Ugel Tacna to provide the resources,” Mamani said.

Officials and advisors of the GRT received representatives of the residents and summoned directors of the Ugel to analyze the situation and attend to this request promptly. They are requesting the hiring of eight teachers for primary and six for secondary.
Only option at this point
They alleged that they presented their files until January 20 and that at this point they could no longer apply to any other school since enrollment is at an advanced stage.
The residents belong to the Paseo de los Héroes, 15 de Julio, Los Molles, Promuvi Señor de los Milagros, Aero Azul, 6 de Enero and Ciudad de Paz associations.
