Tacna: More than 4,000 farmers protest against the threat of eviction (VIDEO)

Nearly 4,000 farmers arrived at the Tacna Regional Government headquarters demanding that the eviction of land they occupy, scheduled for April 29 and 30, be annulled.

Are 23 associations from different sectors such as La Yarada Los Palos, Tomasiri, Alto de la Alianza and others, who have been included in a process that has been going on for years. The leaders pointed out that they occupy land that previously belonged to Department of agriculture and that after years of effort have made them produce. Later these properties were transferred to the Tacna Special Project for the execution of the fourth component of the Vilavilani Project and the judicial processes began.

the leader Rene Guiseindicated that there are 3,500 hectares that they occupy through different associations and that the Regional Government intends to evict them despite the fact that they employ some 10,000 people in a region where there is no industry or major source of job creation.

Ore Choque Ramos, olive grower of the association San Bartolome He explained that said group has been effectively occupied since 2003 and in 2004 the Tacna Special Project, without having the property title, gave them the viability to have possession of the place where they are currently located.

To support his claims, he showed proof of possession granted by the Regional Directorate of Agricultureas well as the affidavits and receipts of property taxes paid year after year for occupying said land, which would recognize them as possessors.

They agree on a technical table

Together they claimed that they have been working for years and that they legitimately occupy the land, for which they ask that these be reverted from the Regional Government to the Ministry of Agricultureso that later the process of legal physical sanitation can be continued.

After a meeting with Governor Juan Tonconi, it was agreed that a work table will be installed on Thursday seeking to rescind the ordered eviction. Congresswoman Esmeralda Limachi Quispe also participated in the meeting, who also interceded for the farmers.
