Tacna: Luis Torres governs the region from his home

regional governor He is again under house arrest after a court ruling. He is being investigated for alleged acts of corruption in his management as mayor.

Last week, the Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court revoked the resolution that annulled the house arrest of the regional governor of Tacna, Luis Torres Robledo. Yesterday, the regional entity published images of Torres on its Facebook page exercising his position from his home.

In the publication, it is noted that Torres received files from the District Municipality of Pocollay related to projects that this commune requests that can be developed in agreement with the region. The municipal officials even had a work meeting in their living room.

Torres is investigated by the prosecution for alleged acts of corruption in his third term as mayor of the Provincial Municipality of Tacna (2015-2018). For this reason, the house arrest mandate weighs against him, which expires in September 2023.

The Republic requested an interview with the lieutenant governor, Liliana Velazco, and the general manager of the region, Mario López, to find out the details about how the Torres government will take since its confinement, but obtained the refusal of both authorities.
