The hearing for the cessation of preventive detention of the governor-elect of Tacna, Luis Torres Robledo, was held at 3:00 p.m. this Friday. He is under house arrest accused of directing the sale of land for the Provincial Municipality of Tacna.

His lawyer Fidel Rojas stated that his election as governor reinforces his labor ties since he must remain in the region to fulfill his responsibilities as an authority.

For her part, the representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Daniela Uscuchagua, stated that the house arrest is not reinforced for belonging to a political party or being elected authority and that during her house arrest Torres would have received co-defendants among the 970 people who have visited him.

Torres’ attorney requested that he be granted a restricted appearance or simple appearance. Judge Juan Portugal will make the decision and communicate it in the following hours.
