Tacna: Fruit merchants refuse to withdraw from Army land

Yesterday, for the third consecutive day, fruit merchants from the Tacna Platform Association continued to occupy the 3-hectare land belonging to the Peruvian Army, in front of the “Óvalo del León” at the northern entrance to the city of Tacna.

While they are preparing a common pot, President Nancy Gamero Aquino pointed out that they will not allow them to be evicted since they have complied with all the documents for the Third Cavalry Brigade to rent them 1.5 hectares since they have no other place to be relocated to.

Rental to association questioned

They stated that the livelihood of 50 families who survive with the profits from their sales stands is at risk. They questioned that the Third Cavalry Brigade “Tacna” had decided to rent the 3 hectares to the association chaired by the leader Plácido Kacha.
