Tacna: Extortionists threaten businessmen demanding from 300 to 10,000 soles

New cases of extortion by alleged members of the “Tren de Aragua” criminal gang are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (Depincri) of Tacna, following complaints from people who received messages or calls on WhatsApp.

Businessman José AC (60), owner of the Los Limoneros restaurant in the young town of Alto Bolognesi in the Pocollay district, denounced that two workers answered the calls to the business cell phone. First, a man said he was from the “Tren de Aragua” gang and that he had to contribute S/2,500 in exchange for protection, otherwise they would attack the lives of family members or the business.

Restaurant manager threatened

In another call, the alleged extortionist, who identified himself as a member of the “Tren de Aragua” gang, told another employee that they had paid 5,000 soles for the head of the restaurant owner and in order not to execute said order they had to pay 2,500 soles.

Meanwhile, Olger YM (41), manager of a restaurant in Pachía, said that on Monday the 19th he was on a bus that was taking him from Pachía to Tacna and on his cell phone a man with a Venezuelan accent told him that he had to deposit 300 soles to the “Train de Aragua” or they would explode a grenade in his house.

Two other victims of extortionists

Heavy machinery salesman Ramón Ll.C. (45) denounced that when answering a call a man who looked like a foreigner told him to be from the “Tren de Aragua” group, that they had been following his movements for days and that he had to pay 10,000 soles so that hitmen who were outside his house in the Miller association of the Alto de la Alianza district do not kill him.

The doctor Rolando RV (33) was intimidated into making a payment of 5,000 soles for the “Tren de Aragua”. He indicated to the Police that the extortionist called the cell phone number that he had published on social networks for the medical service contacts that he makes at his Cercado clinic.
