The mixed doubles final of the Pan-American Table Tennis Championships in El Salvador could be 100% Brazilian. From 11:15 pm (Brasília time) this Tuesday (15th) the semi-finals of the competition will begin, with four representatives from the country. Alongside Rio’s Hugo Calderano, number six in the world, São Paulo’s Bruna Takahashi (19th in the ranking) faces North Americans Jishan Liang and Amy Wang. At the same time, the duo of Giulia Takahashi – Bruna’s sister – and Guilherme Teodoro face off against Chileans Paulina Veja and Nicolas Burgos.
The main continental competition of the 2024 season, the Pan will distribute 500 points in the world ranking to the champions. The tournament runs until Sunday (20) with live broadcast on the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) channel.

Seeded 18th, Calderano and Takahashi debuted in the fourth (14th) with a comeback victory, by 3 sets to 1, about Mexicans Rogelio Castro and Arantxa Aceves (key heads 4). Afterwards, they defeated, by 3 sets to 0, another close-knit pair: the Puerto Ricans Oscar Birriel and Brianna Burgos (seeded 8).
Round of 16 in singles
Before the doubles semifinals, Calderano, Guilherme Teodoro, Giulia and Bruna Takahashi compete in the singles. The Brazilian delegation also includes Leonardo Iizuka, Vitor Ishiy, and Laura Watanabe at the Pan in El Salvador.
