The president of the Renewing Democratic Union (Unamos) and current political prisoner, Suyen Barahona, She has been captive for 18 months in one of the cells of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ), known as “El Nuevo Chipote” in Managua.
Barahona was kidnapped on June 13, 2021, during a wave of manhunts against political leaders, prior to the disputed presidential elections of that year.

The 13th visit for the political prisoners held in “El Nuevo Chipote” will be between December 24 and 31. Barahona’s relatives hope that on that date the dictatorship will no longer restrict their rights or those of the other kidnapped opponents.
