The Superintendency of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Goods (Sutran) reported that more than 1.6 million people used interprovincial land transportation during the recent Christmas holidays, which represents an increase of 16% compared to the last long holiday in December. .
Between December 20 and 25, 27,163 interprovincial trips were recorded nationwide, 3,844 more than those reported during the December 6 holiday.
The authorized terminals were supervised in 327 points in the country, while Sutran inspectors carried out strategic operations on the National Road Network to guarantee the safety of users.
Main destinations and departures from Lima
From Lima, a total of 437,760 people undertook trips to different regions, reflecting an increase of 17% compared to the previous long holiday. The majority of passengers chose to travel to the south of the country (194,100 people), followed by the northern area (122,880) and the center (120,780).
Likewise, it was reported that 446,280 passengers returned to Lima from different regions, a figure that represents an increase of 15%. Of this total, 211,380 people traveled from the south, 121,200 from the center and 113,700 from the north of the country.
Nationwide travel
At a general level, 745,740 passengers traveled by land transportation, 16.9% more than the previous holiday. The main destinations continued to be the south (318,480 passengers), the north (237,840) and the center of the country (189,420).
Sutran highlighted that all vehicles used on the trips met the technical and safety requirements, such as the Vehicle Technical Inspection Certificate (CITV) and Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance (SOAT).
The entity has more than 900 inspectors deployed throughout the national territory to verify that both drivers and vehicle units operate under the established standards, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of users.
