Sutep national strike today, Tuesday 28: These are their demands

The Unitary Union of Workers in Education of Peru (Sutep) will accept today, Tuesday, June 28, a national strike. They demand the fulfillment of electoral promises and an anti-crisis plan to address the needs of the poorest.

Tomorrow (today Tuesday), without suspending classes, fulfilling our commitment to parents, to our students, after work, in the afternoon, we are going to go to the Ministry of Economy and Finance to demand that the budget for the education sector be improved. That it complies with what the Constitution says in its article 16, obviously not less than 6% of GDP for the education sector”explained Alfredo Velásquez, national secretary of pedagogical issues of Sutep, in a dialogue with Tv Perú Noticias.

He also indicated that the march is also due to the fact that the education assistants this year have not received a single increase in their salary. In addition, he pointed out that the unemployed and retirees “earn a pittance.”

Sutep will abide by national strike today

“Once the collective bargaining table is over, which is the last day of June, the union will make a decision, either you go to arbitration or you go on strike. If we make the drastic decision to go on strike, it will not be our responsibility, but the Government’s.”he asserted.

It should be noted that the protesters will gather today at the Sutep headquarters, located in block 5 of Jirón Camaná, starting at 3:00 p.m.
