Lacalle Pou inaugurated industrial rice plant in Treinta y Tres

The Dambo rice company inaugurated an infrastructure in Treinta y Tres, the main productive area of ​​the sector, where it will receive, store and dry rice. The investment was 8 million dollars. The Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos, asserted that this plant will consolidate the export of this crop. The ceremony was led by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou.

Also participating in the activity, held this Thursday the 9th, were the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado; the Undersecretary of Livestock, Juan Ignacio Buffa; the Minister of Industry, Omar Paganini; the head of Tourism, Tabaré Viera; the Undersecretary of the Environment, Gerardo Amarilla; the mayors of Treinta y Tres, Mario Silvera, and Cerro Largo, José Yurramendi, and representatives of the Dambo company.

When the president arrived at the plant, located at kilometer 357 of route no. 18, in the town of Rincón de Ramírez, he was received by the general director of the aforementioned firm, Zeferino Escosteguy; the industrial director, Pablo Escosteguy, and the aforementioned mayors.

After the opening ceremony, the authorities toured the facilities and witnessed the start of operation of the processing plant, called Dambo 33.

Mattos stated that the rice sector is very thriving in the economy and agriculture, adding that the chain involves many subsectors in a coordinated manner. He remarked that this company is family-owned and that it diversifies its plants in a traditional area of ​​the rice basin to support trade.
