Taking into account the complex hydrometeorological situation in the Gulf of Batabanó, which, according to the forecast, will affect safety for navigation during the crossing and docking in the ports of Batabanó, Nueva Gerona and Cayo Largo del Sur, it was decided to suspend maritime navigation between these ports as of February 14, 2022, until they improve.
The Cuban Maritime Administration is in contact with the Institute of Meteorology to report the restoration of navigation when hydrometeorological conditions improve.
The approach to Cuba of a cold front, accompanied by rains and strong winds, is the cause of the alterations of the sea in that region of the country, hence the decision to suspend navigation through the Gulf of Batabanó, which affects the transportation of passengers .
