The family of the eight-year-old Nicaraguan boy, attacked and dragged by a crocodile in the Matina River in Costa Rica, continues their search. The minor’s father says that he has not given up hope that the minor’s body will turn up. As the days go by, the possibilities decrease.
Julio Otero is the father of the child and told Univisión that the disappearance of his son’s body was “a stab to the heart.” The man, along with his wife and children, arrived in the Costa Rican Caribbean four years ago to work on a banana plantation, but he never imagined that he would see one of his offspring die that way.

The reptile took his son in his jaws and before the astonished gaze of the family dragged the body of the minor who was in the river. One of the witnesses stated that he saw a terrifying scene: «she shook him (the child) and tore off his little head. From there he grabbed him again and terrified him (in the river) », Wilfredo Centeno told the international media.
The boy was accompanying his parents to fish in the area when the tragic event was recorded last Sunday at about 4:14 pm, in the Matina community in Limón. After the attack, the animal dragged the body towards the depth of the river, where there are still no traces of the body.
The Red Cross reported that it had concluded the search for the minor after activating rescuers in boats to try to find the whereabouts of the child,
Costa Rican media affirm that this decision was made by the other authorities due to the lack of traces and evidence, since everything indicates that the crocodile ate the little boy. The animal was located 150 meters from where the attack was recorded.
The parents of the minor want to find the body of the child to give him a Christian burial and have requested the support of residents of the area to continue the search.
