The main suspect in killing six people and injuring 25 others in a shooting This Monday in the town of Highland Park (Illinois) during a July 4 parade was arrested by the authorities, said the local police chief, Lou Jogmen.
“We are going to have to connect (the detainee) with the crime scene, we want to follow the proper process,” said Jogmen, explaining that the arrested person is Robert Crimo, whose name and image were revealed by authorities as a “person of interest” in the crime but is not officially considered a suspect yet.
Jogmen explained to reporters that the police will now have to question Crimo to determine his connection to the shooting. and that, if all goes smoothly, there will be no further press updates until tomorrow.
For his part, the president Joe Biden promised on Monday to continue the fight against the “epidemic” of gun violence in the United States after a shooting at a Fourth of July parade in a town near Chicago which left at least six dead.

Biden said that both he and his wife Jill were “shocked by the senseless gun violence that once again brought pain to a community American this Independence Day.
“I will not stop fighting the epidemic of gun violence,” he promised, recalling that in late June he enacted the first major gun control legislation in decades, while acknowledging that “much remains to be done”.
