The non-grouped congresswoman, Susel Paredes, announced yesterday in a podcast that she has decided to be the party’s candidate for mayor of Lima Now Nation, by Alfonso López Chau.
In conversation with Nicolás Lúcar, the parliamentarian said: “Yes, I am going to be a candidate with Ahora Nación for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, but first I have to go through the internal ones.”
Furthermore, in the program he mentioned and praised other congressional candidates who are running with Ahora Nación for the chamber of deputies and senators.
“(Now the Nation) has had an injection of very good allies. I believe that Jaime Delgado is an expert in consumer defense, a very good letter for the Senate. Indira Huilca is a very prepared young woman. I believe that Harvey Colchado is a person who knows intelligence, comrade Villanueva, which is not only him, but it is the Peruvian Federation of Civil Constitution that managed to make the most intelligent agreement that it can make with its counterpart, which is the Peruvian Chamber of Constitution, and that relationship between the two of them made there would be no strikes for years in that economic activity,” said Paredes.
This announcement was also published on the official website of presidential candidate Alfonso López Chau, with a message of support for the legislator’s decision.
“Susel Paredes will go with Alfonso López Chau’s party because it coincides with an ethical, democratic and firm proposal, which puts the country and rights above the usual interests,” he said.
Paredes Piqué joins the list of authorities who are going to run for the municipal and regional elections of October 2026, among them are Carlos Bruce, mayor of Lima and Francis Allison, mayor of Magdalena, who has just joined Avanza País with the aim of becoming the official candidate of said party in the municipal elections.
