The Congresswoman Susel Paredes commented on the Alberto Fujimori’s presidential candidacy and the life pension granted in his favor by CongressIn this regard, the legislator argued that it would be a strategy on the part of Fuerza Popular because, until now, Keiko Fujimori has not managed to emerge victorious at the polls.
“Since Keiko never wins, she needs Alberto to accompany her in the 2026 campaign. So, now she does need her father because she sees that without her father she doesn’t win,” she said during an interview with Exitosa.
Regarding the life pension, he said: “Fujimori is a convicted criminal. (…) To have a pension you do not have to be accused, he was accused and won the accusation. In the Judiciary “They remove all the sentences of these criminals (…) So it is not his responsibility. If you read it, you see that this resolution is null and void because it is illegal.”
Paredes also rejected the former dictator’s lack of intention to pay the civil reparations he owes the State. “Fujimori owes millions in civil reparations and has not paid anything. The monthly payment he is receiving should be suspended because it is a mockery for the pensioners who receive just 100 soles a month,” he said.
“To all retirees in Peru, I say: Fujimori is making fun of you in your face because he is going to take a pension of 15,600 soles and you have 200 soles. He doesn’t care about you, Mr. retiree,” he added.
Susel Paredes asked the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate those who granted Fujimori a lifetime pension
In this regard, he reported that he has issued a letter to the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the technicians who prepared the report on the Life pension for the former dictator.
“(Why ask the Attorney General’s Office to intervene in this case, (…) who exactly should the MP investigate, (…) the congressmen or the technical staff?) The technicians, who have prepared a report with which the Board of Directors says ‘well, that’s what the technicians say’ (…) that report has a notorious political bias (…) I have sent this letter to the MP so they can see,” he explained.
This petition made to the head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office focuses on having admitted the former dictator’s request despite the fact that it should not have proceeded due to the fact that he has constitutional complaints against him and that Law No. 26519, in its section 2, regulates it.
“I am writing to you in my capacity as a member of Congress to request the initiation of a formal investigation into the administrative actions that culminated in the issuance of a resolution approving a life pension for former President Alberto Fujimori,” the letter begins.
After that, he informs the Legal and Constitutional Office of Congress, which would have drafted N°049-2024-OLCC-OM-CR, so that later from the Human Resources Area, through Haydi Figueroa Valdéz, this irregular request is accepted.
“In light of the above, I consider it of utmost importance that the facts be clarified and that it be determined whether or not crimes have been committed, given that the aforementioned situation could constitute an act harmful to the public interest,” he concluded.
