To provide greater support in the holding of the Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, the National Force of the Unified Health System (SUS) will operate, this weekend, at various points along the processions route, in Belém. The action aims to support the state and municipal health departments in serving the population during the largest religious event in the state, which brings together millions of pilgrims and visitors.
According to the Ministry of Health, the teams will be in strategic posts, equipped for urgent and emergency care, with a structure similar to that of field hospitals.
This Saturday (11), the work takes place during the Círio Fluvial, with the teams located in Escadinha; in Translation, with the force located in Customs and Casa das 11 Janelas. On Sunday (12), work continues during the Círio procession at Casa das 11 Janelas and at the Nazaré Architectural Center.
Considered a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the Círio de Nazaré is a festival that shows the devotion of the people of Pará. The forecast is for more than 2 million people in this Sunday’s procession.
This year, the largest Catholic procession in the world celebrates its 233rd edition on the eve of the 30th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP30).
The ministry also informed that the initiative is also part of the Ministry of Health’s preparation actions for COP30, strengthening the public system’s response capacity to major events.
