Throughout the five-year period, Secondary Education maintained zero deficit

“We put all the money we have available into the communities,” said the Secondary Director, Jenifer Cherro, about the financial administration of the organization. He added that an institution was received with a deficit of 301 million pesos, and yet this was zero during this period. Likewise, the petty cash of the high school administrations was increased, from 2,000 pesos to about 12,000.

The general director of Secondary Education, Jenifer Cherro, recalled that during this period several locations were inaugurated to house high schools in different parts of the country.

Regarding human resources, he stated that tutoring or accompaniment hours were universalized through projects in 309 high schools. Previously, they were granted only in the basic cycle, now, also in high school. The appointment of 300 sexual education representatives and several psychologists and pedagogical guidance teachers was completed, covering 4th, 5th and 6th years of secondary education. Added to this is the job stability achieved for some 5,800 teachers, through effectiveness contests.

The leader highlighted that educational indicators have registered progress, which is evident in educational monitors with new tools each year and which show that “we always have to work around the student.” He recalled that graduations improved, promotion in the basic cycle improved and disengagement decreased.

In addition, he reported that in these years technology and inclusive education conferences were held, the foundations were established to work on hospital classrooms and progress is being made to install a TEA center in a facility under renovation. “We have sustained the educational system after a pandemic that hit us in 2020, 2021 and part of 2022,” he reviewed.

In terms of administration of economic resources, he maintained that amounts were granted for food and other items in the centers, in the months of April and September. “Before they were for some high schools, now we give them to everyone,” he indicated. “Whenever we could, we provided fixed amounts for them to purchase their materials or needs, between 100,000 and 200,000 pesos. This year they were 165,000 pesos,” he added. The petty cash of the high school administrations was also increased, from 2,000 pesos to about 12,000.

Cherro assured that when the administration began the deficit was 301 million pesos and that, during 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, it was zero, a situation that, everything indicates, will be repeated at the end of 2024. “All the money we have had available, we turned it over to the communities,” he stated. “We have walked in many directions, leaving solid foundations for education to be truly quality,” he concluded.
