Surfing: Miguel Pupo is champion in the Teahupo'o stage

The Brazilian Miguel Pupo won the Teahupo’o (Tahiti) stage of the World Surf League (WSL) after defeating the Tahitian who competes for France Kauli Vaast by 17.17 points to 15.00 this Friday (19) .Surfing: Miguel Pupo is champion in the Teahupo'o stage

This was the first time, after 11 years of career, that the paulista won a stage on the world circuit. However, even with the triumph in Tahiti, Miguel Puppo was left out of the WSL Finals (special stage in which the world titles will be disputed between the top-5 of the ranking in September in California), competition that will involve the Brazilians Filipe Toledo and Italo Ferreira, the Australians Ethan Ewing and Jack Robinson and the Japanese Kanoa Igarashi.

North American wins in women’s

Among the women, the title went to the North American Courtney Conlogue, tormentor of the Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb in Teahupo’o. The American secured the victory by defeating Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy in the decision by 11.67 to 5.20.

With the end of the Tahiti stage, the last classified for the women’s WSL Finals were defined. The contest will be attended by Tatiana Weston-Webb, Hawaiian Carissa Moore, French Johanne Defay, Australian Stephanie Gilmore and Brisa Hennessy.
