Supreme Court transfers the case against Armando Benedetti to the Colombian Prosecutor's Office

The high court lost jurisdiction to investigate Armando Benedetti, now Colombia’s ambassador to Venezuela, for his diplomatic jurisdiction

The Supreme Court of Justice reported the loss of powers to continue the process against the Colombian ambassador in Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, for the alleged crimes of undue interest in the execution of contracts and influence peddling as a public servant and transferred the case to the Prosecutor’s Office

In July of last year, the Supreme Court formally linked Benedettito answer for the alleged commission of crimes of undue interest in the contracting of contracts and influence peddling in relation to the Financial Fund for Development Projects, Fonade.

He is also accused of being related to a network of corruption within this same entity, in which he would have obtained money from contracts for low-income housing, during the government of President Juan Manuel Santos, when the senator was part of the party of La OR.

However, the high court indicated that it lost jurisdiction to investigate him due to the special jurisdiction that he now has due to his position as ambassador, in accordance with the Constitution.
