Supreme Court ratifies sanction against judge who favored Vladimir Cerrón

The Supreme Court of Justice confirmed the three-year suspended prison sentence for Alain Salas, a specialized judge from Acobamba, after it was proven that he issued resolutions contrary to the law to benefit former governor Vladimir Cerrón in a process due to incompatible negotiation.

The ruling also increased the civil compensation from S/ 3,000 to S/ 5,000 in favor of the State, in recognition of the damage caused. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Salas admitted and resolved a habeas corpus that annulled a conviction that is not yet final, without taking into account the pending appeal of the Public Ministry, violating constitutional norms.

During the process, it was demonstrated that the judge acted without reasoned motivation and failed to verify the real status of the case, actions that constitute the crime of breach of law.

The Public Ministry of Huancavelica reaffirmed that it will continue to supervise and sanction officials who violate the law and constitutional order, guaranteeing the correct administration of justice and the defense of the State.
